this is such a powerful reflection! we need to live with passion & not just falling into a routine of singing or playing an instrument but without giving our best...
So very easy to go through the motions because we as worship musicans and worship leaders are expected to! However, if our worship is truly to God, we cannot hide behind doing "the motions." And we deceive those we lead in worship of God! We cannot give what we do not experience and truly say we have worshipped! That is not authenticity or transparency! I am trul;y grateful for one of my vocalists who came to me one Sunday morning and said, "I cannot sing today becasue I am not right in my spirit because I am not right with the Lord." I applauded that person for not "going through the motions." Lord, help us. Lord, forgive us if we dare take our positions and "go through the motions!"
I sometimes feel the same way... I really do want to live my life with a passion for Christ and not just get by.
